Care Knights
I got this idea for a new class for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Care Knights are a hybrid class, healer/tank/ranged dps. They will also introduce an additional element: Heart.
Basics
Lore: With the recent changes in Mount Hyjal, a secret and loving society of Care Knights has been found. Living in isolation, they know nothing of hate and violence that has been happening outside of their cave. Now they are released to the outside world and they want to make it a happier place! ^^
Races: Human, Draenei, Worgen and Dwarves from the alliance; Tauren, Orc, Trolls and Goblins from the horde. The rest of the races are too evil/arrogant to be Care Knights.
Talents: Care Knights can spec into the following talent trees: Comfort, Cute, Cuddly.
Talent Trees
Descriptions of talent trees.
Comfort: Healing/Buffing. Comfort tree is focused on making everyone else in the raid feel better. Buffs like increased healing make Comfort Care Knights the excellent choice to bring as a support healer. While not very good at direct tank healing, Comfort tree supplies the Care Knight with a wide variety of tools for raid healing.
Examples of spells:
It's Okay - Friendly Target takes 10% less damage and 10% increased healing for the next 10 sec.
Group Hug - Heals the raid for 25% of their max health in 10yd range.
Offer Candy - Heals friendly target for 10% of their health every 3 seconds for 2 minutes.
Cute: Based on the concept "So cute it hurts! ^^". Cute Care Knights are ranged damage dealers with good CC abilities. Being able to distract foes by acting over-the-top cute, they can lock down the target enemy without problem. They deal mainly AoE damage but are also decent in single target.
Examples of spells:
Fall Over - Clumsily fall over and try to get up. Every enemy in 30yd range will stop and aww at you. Distracts them for 3 sec. 2min cooldown.
Kitten Yawn - Deals heart damage over 3 seconds.
Turn Head - Turn head sideways and smile cutely. Instant heart damage + 10% increased crit chance debuff on target for 10 sec.
Cuddly: Cuddly Care Knights are excellent avoidance tanks. Focusing on hugging the target, they will rarely get hit. Not very good against ranged enemies. They have a wide variety of debuffs and single target mitigation, making them great boss tanks.
Examples of spells:
Friendly Hug: Hug the target, reducing your chance to get hit by the target by 20% for 5 seconds. Produces high threat.
Cheek Kiss: Kiss the target quickly on the cheek, reducing the target's damage by 30% for 3 seconds.
Chain Hands: All enemies in melee range hold hands in a chain for 3 seconds. Cleave type CC and threat.
Breathless Hug: Hug the target so tight he will be unable to attack. Produces high amount of physical damage & threat. Lasts 5 seconds, channeled.
Rune System
Care Knights use 3 kinds of runes: Heart, Kitten and Teddy. You start out with 2 of each. Spells from the Comfort tree use mainly Heart runes, spells from Cute tree use mainly Kitten runes and spells from Cuddly tree use mainly Teddy runes. By going deeper in the talent trees you will be able to get more of the associated runes. By speccing into Cuddly, for example, you will get 1xHeart, 1xKitten and 4xTeddy. Runes work much like DK runes.
Star Power
Star Power works like runic power, but the bar is coloured Pink. Star Power is used for spells that do highly effective visuals, but have no use otherwise. These spells include Star Storm, Rainbow and Heart Inferno ^^ (^^ being a part of the spell name). The star power is purely cosmetic mechanic and meant to spice up Care Knights' game experience.
Gear
Care Knights use a unique approach to gearing. Stats play little to no role in how well the Care Knight performs, more importance is placed on the looks of the gear. Flashy and colourful staff with a heart on top will be of legendary quality, while a basic wooden stick bear no relevance to a Care Knight's interests.
Element: Heart
Heart is a new and unique element exclusive to Care Knights. Heart damage cannot be resisted, except by the mobs of undead type, since undead have no feelings. Undead have passive 10% reduction to Heart damage.
In conclusion, I think the Care Knights would be an interesting class to play, both from the lore and mechanics perspective. All this blood and gore in WoW definitely needs a change to freshen up the game a bit. Tell me what you think.
